22-112. Hanging candle box with sliding front panel. Carved side panels and a transcultural swastika cared into the back arch. This is a traditional symbol of good luck. A wrought iron hanging ring is at the top. This example is probably continental. I haven’t identified the species of wood used in its construction. It appears to be a combination of hard and soft woods. The surface is a very dark black/brown finish. It measures 13” x x5” x 3”, and 14” high including the iron ring. Ca. late-18th to early-19th century.
