24-241. A pair of spiked single candle sconces. These early hand-wrought iron holders have an “S” form spiked rod with a single candle socket and dish shaped drip saucer. The opposite end is sharpened for driving into the wood of a mantle or wall. The sconces retain remnants of a very old gold gilt or paint surface. Each sconce measures approximately 11” h x 10” w. They are in very good condition, with age appropriate ware to the drip saucers and wrought iron stems. Believed to have their origin in PA, and dating from the late-18th to the early-19 century.
