24-253. A small to medium-sized whale oil lantern made of tin with a heavy fisheye convex lens. Folding handles are on the back, heat diffusers on the top, removeable fluid font with a single burner. The Lantern features a moveable “black-out” shade. The Lantern measures approximately 8” x 3.5” in diameter. Except for significant paint loss it is in very good condition. Essentially no rust, holes or repairs. American, dating from the early 19th century, ca. 1830.
