This is a uncommon steel engraving of old Christmas done by Thomas Nast in 1879. Merry Christmas. It is the real deal.. original and antique. This illustration comes from his time as a major illustrator for Harper Bros. and the Christmas time series he did for them from the 1860s into the 1880s. Thomas Nast was a famous controversial, political cartoonist. He was responsible for the image of Santa as we know him.The condition of the print is very good. The piece framed is 22" X 29." By itself, it image is 15" X 22" The matting has some foxing. An uncommon find for the holidays. It was purchased from the very prominent firm of Lyon's LTD Antique Prints in the 1990's.
