This is a most unique piece of American folk art. It is done on Cedar wood; it is a rendering of a panting, glass eyed, canine. Quite amazing, this work is an applied and then sculpted plaster of some kind done on board in a relied of a handsome family friend. It is signed what looks like Olga L McGiel (?). As shown, it is dated 1738. It has a very crust surface and aside from the fissure showing in the middle of the face, the condition is in good condition. This piece measures 18 1/2" X 12."
