This is a vintage Native American Doll. She is called a Skookum doll and they were first made around 1913 and marketed at trading posts and eventually to the open trade as a tourist item. They are all hand done using early Pendleton blanket material, felt, leather and whatever else worked. They have a composition body. They were character dolls modeled after various Native American tribes an they are very collected. This one is a Papoose doll able to be carried. She has her necklace, hat and shoes, great blanket; and, is in great condition in her colorful period blanket wrap. She measures 11" high.
