25-044. Here is an 18th century “Survivor”! A five-tube candle mold on wooden stand. The softwood stand has lollypop ends supported by cut-out feet. The sheet iron tubes are from 7.5” to 8” long and taper from 0.75” to 1”. The stand measures 24” long x 4.5” wide x 12.5” high. It is in as-found condition with make-do repairs and later but old black paint. One foot is missing, having been replaced be a short length of iron. It shows past insect damage and general wear from use. The mold is American, was found in New England, exact origin unknown, and dating to the second half of the 18th century to the early 19th century.
