25-106. A small wooden Barn Lantern with four lights, a single candle socket, and much of its original dark red paint. A sheet iron heat / smoke deflector arches over the chimney opening on the top. An iron wire bale swing-handle also attaches on the top. The four wooden corner posts connect to the top and bottom by way of the original carved wooden pegs. Although these wooden Barn Lanterns are not uncommon, examples in such excellent original condition, are very, very scares. The lantern was found in New England and dates from the early 19th century, ca. 1820.
