25-110. A True Miniature Redware Fat Lamp
Price: $450
Sold by Phillips and Durkin Antiques
25-110. A true miniature redware fat lamp in a light tan-white glaze. The fuel bowl features a wick spout outlined in a brown/black color, which is mounted upon a stem featuring three brown/black strokes resembling rings. These are reminiscent of the formed rings seen on the stems of some full-size redware fat lamps and lamp stands. The stem sits in the middle of a saucer shaped base. The lamp is in very good condition and measures just 2.75” high x 2” wide. The tan-white color suggest that the piece may have been intended as a wedding gift. A truly unusual lamp in both size and color. This is reflected in its Provenance: ex. Titus Geesey collection. Ca. early to mid-19th century.
