Candle Lantern w/Octagonal Globe

For sale is an early tin and glass candle lantern. It is about 11” tall, not counting the circular handle, an 4” in diameter at the base. The globe has eight panels above a flat circular base. The witch’s hat shaped top, bottom, handle are made of punched tin. The tin parts of the lantern may have been painted black at one time, but are now badly rusted. The glass globe has an annealing line running through it. This no doubt occurred as the glass cooled. The bottom piece separates from the lantern so that a candle can be placed in the tin holder. A make-do wire repair holds the witch’s hat in place.
