25-154. A sheet iron candle lantern with horn panel and 2 candle sockets. The interior candle socket is cleated through the bottom, while the exterior holder is mounted on the top of the rear strap handle. The latter candle is for inside-the-home use. There is a smoke deflector and lope handle at the top which is split but fully functional. The horn pane is original with a stable crack at the top. Roof vents and side slits complete the lantern. It measures approximately 15” hanging and 5.5” in diameter. It is American and dates from the late-18th to early-19th century.
