Rare 8” Hen On A Nest Chocolate Mold

This chocolate mold is marked on the base Made in France. Although it is likely to have been by Sommet, it is otherwise unmarked. The hen is approximately 8” tall, including the base and 6 3/4” from breast tail. It is a three dimensional mold and measures 3 3/4” from side to side. The base is approximately 2 3/16” x 3 5/16”. This an early and rare mold. Over the years it has tarnished and picked up a few scratches and rust from age, use and storage. That said, the internal silvering is 90+ percent there. It is for the most part bright and shiny. Examine the photos and satisfy yourself regarding its condition. Look closely at the first photo. It shows a very minor break in the hen’s right side on the lower edge of the next to the bottom feather. It is approximately 3/8” long and less than 1/32” across. It in no way hurts the appearance or use of the mold and likely resulted from a thin spot in the tin when the mold was made.
