26-017. Turned and painted beech wood tabletop adjustable candlestand. Tin candle cups on tin sleaves slip over the ends of the cross bar. They can be slid off to reveal horizontal groves which will accommodate the spiked hangers for Betty Lamps. An ingenious adaptation for different forms of lighting. The turned and threaded vertical post is mounted into a round, stepped base which sits on 3 ball feet. It all retains its original red and black paint decorated surface. Found in PA and dating to the mid-19th c., measuring approximately 28 3/4" h. (Betty Lamps not included.) Provenance: Yvonne DePaulis and the late Carl DePaulis.
