26-083. A tole painted tin tinder box complete with a flint striker, storage for tinder, box for flints flints and a damper with candle socket. The dark green painted exterior is decorated with a gold dab border and jappened interior. It measures approximately 4 5/8 inches long x 3 ½ inches wide x 2 ½ inches high. The small tin box inside contains flints and measures approximately 2 ¼ inches long x 1 ½ wide. The damper with candle socket is 4 3/8 inches long x 2 7/8 inches wide. It’s all in very good original condition, was found in Virginia and dates to the early to mid-19th century.
