26-086. A hand-wrought iron flint striker in the stylized form of an ice skate. It measures approximately 45/8 long x 15/8 inches wide. It is attributed to the John Walker family of blacksmiths from Augusta Co., in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and active throughout the 18th century.. At least three similar, though not identical strikers are known. An excellent example of a blacksmiths craft, without any breaks or repairs. Found in Virginia and dating from the mid-18th century.
