26-012. An unusual and delightful primitive piece of early wooden lighting. A simple fat lamp / candle stand, with an adjustable ratchet-like frame supporting a fish form platform for the lamp or candle. The primary post, measuring approximately 26” high, is mortised into the rectangular base, measuring approximately 9” x 5.5”. It is made of a hard wood and shows the wear expected for its age. It was found in upstate New York and dates from the late-17th into the early-18th century. [Provenance: David Griffith NY; Lew Scraton, CT.]
