26-072. A highly unusual form, hand-wrought iron, trunnion mounted, candle lamp on a tripod base with simple turned feet. The bowl-shaped drip pan form the support for the candle socket. It was forged with a small ring for a length of chain to secure it to a pot or wall. This was likely to be a safety line to prevent it from falling over. Perhaps it was meant to be in the cabin of a canal boat. Alternately, the chain was a theft deterrent. It measures 13.5” high x 8.5” in diameter at the base. It is in as-found condition with a repair to the trunnion mount.
