Pumpkin Painted "Sugar" Bucket

A very nice painted staved bucket. The staved bucket is a nice size, measuring 9 1/2 inches tall, 13 inch diameter bottom and 11 1/4 inches diameter top. The staves are nice and tight. The paint is a wonderful, dry Pumpkin color. Look at the photo of the bottom of the bucket to see what the paint originally looked like, it has aged and mellowed so much thru the years. I don’t believe this piece ever had a lid. American painted bucket stenciled “SUGAR”. Such a lovely piece.Late 19th. century Sugar bucket.
