Absolutely one of the best examples available is this 19th. century, original Red painted Firkin. This is a wonderful example of coopering (if that is a word). This lovely firkin has the best lapped and tucked bands you would find holding the staves on this Firkin is place as if it was made yesterday. The surface is truly fine, having its original Red paint still intact. The firkin measures 8 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches with the bottom measurement being 10 1/2 inches. Square nail construction.
