This is a fabulous table box. The slide lid box appears to have a dark Grey over Blue painted surface. Please notice that on one side there is still a visible swirl design. The slide lid has beveled sides. The box has its original escutcheon and the box is constructed with square nails. While the slide lid box may have been used originally for candles during its life it may have been used as a bank. Please notice that there is a coin slot cut into the base of the top floor of the box. The coin or perhaps note would fall into the bottom drawer. Beautiful surface and excellent condition. American slide lid candle box circa 1840-1860. The candle box measures 14 3/4 x 9 3/4 x 6 inches. Price: $1525.00 + shipping
