26-095. A wonderful, carved oak chamberstick with large saucer base and carved handle, all formed from a single piece of wood. In the center is a pedestal-form candle socket mortised into the saucer. The saucer measures approximately 6 ¾ inches in diameter with a 4-inch carved handle. With the candle socket, it sits 2 ¾ inches high. The chamberstick has a beautiful rich mellow patina, enhanced by nearly two hundred years of handling and use. It is American, from the Northeast and dates from the early to mid-19th century.
