26-091. A pine candle lantern with a scarce pull-up feature, retaining original natural finish, square-form wooden frame, flat top with a large vent hole and fitted with a wrought-iron bail handle. It retains the original wooden pull rod for raising the candle holder. The interior has a wooden frame fitted corner to corner, having a slide rod on each end, medially fitted with a sheet-iron candle holder. The sides are fitted with colorless glass panes and the lantern with peg and nail construction. American, dating from the mid-19th century. Measuring approximately 9 ¼” to top of pull rod, 4 ¾” square. Good overall and in as-found condition, expected wood imperfections including an old leather patch repair holding a separation together.
