1859 Declaration of Independence Copper Plaque

This is a scarce piece of Americana from 1859. It is an American Declaration of Independence electroplate copper plaque. It was created by Samuel L Black. It is 167 years old. And, it is in amazing condition. Perhaps the best example I have seen represented. And, these are very uncommon to surface. This piece of American history is 7" X 8" and is a heavy weight. Maybe a 16th" thick. From what I have learned these image might have had different finishes. This one is a mat gold finish which really brings out the minuscule lettering. I believe these were sold or distributed as just the plaque without a frame. Although, I have seen one at auction period framed. Looks great! At the bottom of the plaque it reads: Entered according to an act of Congress in the year 1859 by S H Black in the clerks office of the District Court of the United States for the Southern District District of New York. The scene in the middle is after the great painting by American artist John Trumball. RARE. Shipped safely insured.
