The form of this Pipe rack/Spoon Rack is quite unusual and stately. A strong presence given its stature and boxy shape. The rack could be used for either pipes or spoons and I have pictured both for you. I believe it is truly a pipe rack due to the size of the tallest level. That tier holds the full length of the tavern pipes and each shelf beneath it would hold pipes as the were used, as the tips were broken off. I have to say, I love the spoons in them as well. A great form measuring 13 1/2 x 14 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches. Beautifully patinated, original surface Pine Wood. Nice detail mouldings throughout. Excellent condition with square nail construction. American Pipe Rack from the mid 19th. century.
