This is quite a lovely 19th. century, American Lantern. The lantern has its original Red painted surface. Access to the candle is thru two pieces of glass where one piece slides up. There is no door. The top of the lantern is pegged thru to the side columns, it is not nailed. The air vent thru the top of the lantern is like a flat grate and the candle cup is nailed into the base of the lantern. American lighting from the mid 19th. century. The lantern measures 10 3/4 inches tall and the lantern measures 6 inch square. The handle adds another 3 inches. Original Red painted surface.
