This is quite an unusual item and I have not seen one of its kind ever before. It is a wooden measure having a thimble attached to one end. The wooden rod is cut in what appear to be equal sections. The measure is dated May 10,1700 and is initialed and numbered around the circumference of the rod 0 thru 9. The provenance of this piece is excellent and comes from a Maine collection. The rod measures 24 inches.
