A beautiful example of a late 18th. to early 19th century American Splint light/Rush Light. The construction of the light is just wonderful. Please notice how the iron workings of this light is seated into wooden shaft and the top of the wooden shaft is secured with a round iron for support so the shaft doesn’t split thru time. The wooden shaft is mortised thru the unusual shaped base for an overall elegant and timeless look. The light stands 11 inches tall and the base is 5 1/4 inches in diameter. Extra fine craftsmanship and provenance on this early American light.
