This is a fabulous, absolutely wonderful early American wall box with drawer. Every thing about this box speaks of New England. The shape with the slant lid and proportions, the original red/ bittersweet painted surface, the construction with plinth hinge, square and hand cut nails, dovetailed drawer, even down to the latch. the painted surface is dry and original. New England, circa 1820-1840. The wall box measures 14 x 8 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. The overall condition of the box is excellent and exhibits only expected wear. The provenance on this piece is excellent.
