Simply a wonderful wall box with excellent provenance. The box has it original dry, Red paint--beautifully intact. The wall box has a canted form, deeper at the top and tapering towards the bottom. Wonderful square nail construction. The wall box measures 16 1/4 x 7 1/2 x 7 inches. Please notice the configuration of the backboard at each side of the box. It appears the cut is different. I don't know why but possible that was what was available to make the box, you see quirks like that quite often. American, Red painted wall box from the early part of the 19th. century.
