Make-Do's are such fun to collect. It is so interesting how early Americans valued their home goods to the point that when they broke they used whatever means they had to make that item serviceable again. In this case it is the base of this pepper pot that got broken along the way. Instead of tossing it, someone took it and built a wooden base and secured it to the remaining pepper pot. The pepper pot could be filled as usual thru the base. Creamware pepper pot measures 5 1/2" tall.
