Grain Painted Single Loaf Dough Box

Price: sold

Sold by Art Antiques Michigan

This is a single loaf dough box. This style and form is not seen too often. When I see them I always try to buy them, it is one of my favorite forms. This particular loaf box has its original Dapple Grain paint on the outside of the box and original Salmon paint on the interior. The single loaf dough box measures 11 3/4 x 9 1/4 x 6 inches at the widest. It measures 7 inches tall on the ends. Circa 1840 or so and constructed with square nails. Please note that there is a piece of wood out on the side of the box. An original piece has been nailed back in but there is still a little piece missing, please see photo. The loaf of bread comes with the box.
