26-130. Watercolor Profile Portrait of a Young Gentleman, circa 1800–1815. Probably British. An appealing small portrait depicting a young man facing left, his brown hair falling in loose curls, wearing a reddish-brown double-breasted coat with a tall dark collar and high white neckcloth. Delicate facial coloring contrasts with the boldly rendered clothing against a muted gray-green ground. Watercolor on paper or card, housed behind glass in an antique oval frame with gilt-metal facing and beaded ornament. Frame approximately 6 inches high × 4 inches wide. Minor age-related discoloration and wear to the frame; old wooden backing with an indistinct inscription.
