Bank The Tammany Bank was manufactured by J&E Stevens Co. in Cromwell Ct. patent December 23,1873 to John Hall. It proved tremendously popular depicting the notorious New York politician Boss Tweed accepting money, placing it in his pocket, and nodding his thanks. Seems appropriate again today . It uses the weight of the coin to perform the mechanical action. New pennies don't work well as they are lighter. The bank was advertised in the 1877 Enrichs' Fashion Quarterly for 70 cents each. The bank is all original and is in working condition.Paint is in good condition but with expected wear and small chips. Let us know if you'd like additional pictures.
