E.B. On Time Antique Sampler circa 1820

Presented for sale is one antique sampler stitched by E.B. The sampler is English, not dated but I would estimate that the sampler was stitched circa 1820. The framed sampler measures 18-1/2 inches long x 15 inches wide. The sampler has some areas of loss at the edges but otherwise is in good condition. A very a striking piece. E.B. meticulously stitched parts of a a poem by Elizabeth Thomas (1675-1731) titled MIDNIGHT THOUGHT (ON THE DEATH OF MRS. E.H. & HER DAUGHTER). The poem is very poignant and starts out as such: Oh sacred Time! how soon thou'rt gone! How swift thy circling Minutes run! Oh Time! our chiefest worldly Good, If we employ Thee as we shou'd! And yet how few thy Value know, The sampler has wonderful motifs such as birds, crowns and flowerpots. The colors are still vibrant on many of the motifs. The sampler has been conserved, stitched to linen and re-framed in an appropriate frame with UV blocking glass, that matches the time period. I will accept returns up to 2 weeks from receipt but if the item is returned, ½ the shipping cost will be deducted from the refund. Please feel free to ask for additional photos before purchasing.
