Diminutive Antique German Noah's Ark w/10 Animals

For sale is a very sweet small size Noah's Ark with 10 animals that I acquired from New Jersey. It is most likely German, and there are 4 what I believe are pairs of animals, and 2 singles. The ark has a hinged lid for storing the animals, and there are applied windows and doors. The animals are flat and are carved from wood. The ark measures about 11 1/2" long, 9" tall, and 4" wide, and the animals range in size from about 1 3/4" to 3" tall. The set is in nice, but antique condition, with minor wear on the ark, and the animals exhibiting more wear, with some having a tiny bit of newspaper attached to them from storage. Antique PA. Primitive Basket in Pumpkin Paint

For sale is a wonderful antique fairly small size primitive basket in old, possibly original pumpkin paint. I acquired it in Pennsylvania a year or 2 ago, and I think that it was most likely made there as well. The basket has been woven with fairly wide splints, and the bottom is square. It measures about 8" long and 7 1/4" wide on the top, 6 1/4" square on the bottom, and 9 1/4" tall including the handle. It is in nice antique condition, with expected wear to the painted surface, a dark patina and surface dirt on the interior, and a bit of minor loss to the corners on the bottom. Antq. 1749 Miniature Sampler w/Religious Poem

For sale is what I believe is a rare antique miniature that is the earliest that I have ever found. It is dated January 29, 1749, and is signed "Sarah Peace her Sampler", and it also says "Sara Peace 1749" on the right hand side in the middle. I don't know if it is American or English, but it is done primarily using red silk thread on what I believe is homespun linen. In addition to numbers and the alphabet, there is a religious poem that I have been mostly able to decipher, although there are a few words that I haven't been able to figure out. The sampler has been framed by sandwiching it between 2 pieces of glass, and placing it in a lemon gilt frame. The framed piece measures about 10 3/4" x 8 3/4" with sight measurements of 9 3/4" x 7 3/4". The sampler itself is about 7 3/4" x 6 1/2", and is in antique condition, with areas of minor loss, primarily along the edges, as well as a few early repairs. Near Mint 19th C. Lancaster, PA Pillow Sham

For sale is a fantastic antique 19th century Lancaster, PA pillow sham in a central sunburst pattern. It is completely hand sewn in fabulous early fabrics, and there is a plus/cross in the corners. The sham measures about 22 3/4" x 17 1/2", and is in superb near mint condition, not really appearing to have ever been used. Antique 11" x 9" Bucket in Old Chrome Yellow Pa

For sale is a great old primitive bail handle bucket in chrome yellow paint that I acquired on a recent trip to Nashville and the Midwest. The paint is definitely old, possibly original, although I don't know for sure. The bucket measures about 9" tall not including the handle, 11" in diameter on the top, and 9" in diameter on the bottom, and the handle rises about 7" when fully upright. It is in nice antique condition, with signs of age and use, but no significant flaws, although I don't know whether or not it had a lid at one time. Pr. Vtg. Folk Art Heart Shaped Chicken Pot Holders

For sale is a very sweet pair of vintage folk art chicken pot holders that I found at an antique store in my area. They are made of a tiny red and white checked cotton, and have red crocheted combs, as well as French knot eyes. However, what makes them a bit more special is the fact that they are heart shaped. I believe that the pair is filled with cotton, and there are round plastic rings for display. Each one measures about 7" long, 6 1/2" wide, and 1 1/2" tall, and both are in near mint condition, not really appearing to have ever been used. 19th C. Iron Betty Grease Lamp with Rooster Finial

For sale is a wonderful antique iron oil/grease betty lamp with a rooster finial that I have had for a long time. It may be French, as I saw a very similar piece that was stated to be French, but I don't know for sure. The lamp measures about 7 1/2" tall not including the hook/hanger, 5 1/2" in diameter, and the rooster is about 1" tall and 1" long. The hanger is about6 3/4" long including the hook that attaches it to the lamp itself. The piece is in nice antique condition, with remnants of its original black paint, as well as an overall aged rusty patina. For sale is a wonderful antique sewing roll-up huswif that is made of shagreen and pink and black checked silk that has been in my collection for several years. It has a pocket at the top that is decorated with a pink and white silk bow, there is a rectangular pin keep below that, as well as 2 layers of wool felt for needles. In addition, on one layer there is a sweet poem that says "No rose with Mary can compare, Give me thy heart, and I'll live there." The piece has a brown silk tie, and is bound with some kind of brown fabric/seam binding. It measures about 10 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide, and is in nice antique condition, with some minor fading and wear on the silk as well as on the shagreen and bow, but no really significant issues. For sale is a really charming antique, most likely early 1900's newborn size crib quilt, or more accurately bedcover that has 11 different images of young children, as well as one image of an elderly woman in a rocking chair. The images are all hand embroidered on linen, mostly in red and blue, as well as a bit of sort of silvery white, light blue, and yellow. On the back is the name "Gladys", and I assume that was the name of the recipient, although I suppose it could the maker's. The piece measures about 30" x 22 1/2", and is in very nice antique condition with no significant issues. For sale is a terrific and rather hard to find large size antique Pennsylvania primitive folk art rooster/chicken on spool pin cushion whimsy that has been in my collection for quite a few years. I believe that it is completely hand sewn using a tan wool fabric, has mismatched button eyes, a naively embroidered comb, and it feels like it is stuffed with rags, although I suppose it could also be raw cotton. For sale is a wonderful antique Pennsylvania folk art rooster on spool pin cushion that has been in my collection for several years. It is made of a blue and white check fabric, possibly homespun, has naively embroidered eyes, a wattle and comb made of red trim, and its wings are defined by green rickrack. It feels like the rooster is at least partially filled with thread, and the piece measures about 4 1/2" tall, 4" long, and 1" in diameter on the bottom. For sale is a wonderful vintage, possibly antique, Pennsylvania Amish or Mennonite folk art stuffed dog that has been in my collection for a few years. He is primarily machine sewn using a brown striped wool, has pearly white button eyes, and is stuffed with cotton. He measures about 7" tall, 11 1/2" long nose to tail, and 8" wide from his front legs. The doggie is in nice vintage/antique condition, with one small hole on the underside of his right front leg, and at some point someone has added black thread on the bottom, that I think was to make him stand up a bit straighter. For sale is a very sweet vintage 1940's Pennsylvania Amish folk art stuffed cat that I acquired a few years ago on an East Coast trip. It is completely hand sewn of gray pinstripe wool, has pearly white button eyes, and is holding a wooden spool that has been painted pink. He feels like he is stuffed with rags, and measures about 6" tall including his ears, 10' long from the front of his paws to the end of his tail, and 6 1/2" wide from his back legs. For sale is a wonderful and very well loved antique brown velvet stuffed horse that has been in my collection for several years. He has great form, with pinned on ears, black round top straight pin eyes, a black thread tail, and is stuffed with cotton. The horse measures about 10 1/2" tall, 10 1/2" long nose to tail, and 2 3/4" wide. As previously stated, he is in well loved antique condition, with significant wear as well as primitive make do repairs, and although he will stand up, it takes a bit of maneuvering sometimes. Dtd. 1834 PA. Show Towel w/Ladies, Birds, Ex Moyer

For sale is the most folky and unique antique Pennsylvania show towel that I have ever had the pleasure of owning. I have owned it for almost 5 years, and it was formerly in the collection of Linda and Dennis Moyer. It is not signed, but is dated 1834, and has 2 wonderful embroidered ladies in puffy sleeved dresses, a pair of birds, 4 tulips, and a large sort of pinwheel or flower in the center, all completed in pink and blue silk thread. There is hand crocheted lace and tassels on both the top and bottom, and it still has the original hanging loops. The towel measures about 58" long including the tassels and 13" wide, and is in wonderful antique condition, with no issues other than a bit of missing embroidery on the lady on the right, barely worth noting, but mentioned for the sake of complete accuracy. 19th C. Signed Fishing Watercolor w/Provenance

For sale is a charming antique late 19th century Ohio folk art watercolor that depicts a young man sitting on a tree stump fishing, with a young woman holding a basket of flowers behind him, and a dog sleeping nearby. There are trees and a fence behind them, and in the middle at the bottom, there is the signature "W.I. Swartz, Greenville". On the back there is information indicating that originally there had been a note stating that the painting was made for "Grandpa Harbison" when he was in school in Greenville, Ohio. It also states that the artist was William I. Swartz, who was born in Greenville, Ohio in 1865, along with additional information. The painting is done on lined paper, and is housed in a period frame with the original wavy glass, as well as the original wire loop hanger at the top. The framed piece measures about 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" with sight measurements of 9" x7". It is in nice antique condition, with expected signs of age on the frame, and some light brown stains as well as a brown stripe down the middle along a fold line. It is most likely German, although it is unmarked, so I can't completely verify that. The bunny is composition with painted facial features, and the wagon is wood. In addition, written on the bottom of the rabbit are the words "To Gordon From Hulda". For sale is a very unusual antique hand carved kitchen(?) whatsit that I acquired in Nashville. It may be a tenderizer, I really don't know, but I was intrigued by it when I saw it. For sale is a wonderful antique Pennsylvania Lancaster County folk art bird fraktur bookplate. I acquired it from a dealer of folk art in Robesonia, Pennsylvania. It is dated "January the 9,1837" and signed "Wm. Schools His Book". The bird is yellow with orange wings and a blue ring around its neck. The piece is housed in a wonderful and appropriate painted frame, although it is fairly recent, and there is information on the back indicating who framed it. The framed piece measures about 9 3/4" x 7 7/8" with sight measurements of 6 1/4" x 4 3/8". The bookplate itself is about 5" x 3 1/2", and is in nice but antique condition, with overall toning and a few water spots and other minor imperfections, but it displays very well. In addition, the information on the back indicates that it has been framed with museum quality glass that has 99% UV protection. Dear Antique Homespun Bonnet w/Detachable Cap

For sale is a very dear and rather unusual antique bonnet that I believe is made of a very small check homespun, and trimmed with pink rickrack. What is unusual about it is that the cap is held in place on the brim with buttons so that it can be detached. In addition, it feels like there is thin cardboard inside the brim to help it keep its shape. The bonnet measures about 13 1/2" long 8 1/4" front to back when flat, and 10 1/2" across when fully open. The ties are each about 10" long. The piece is in nice antique condition, with a few areas of light brown staining, and some edge wear on the ties, but no missing buttons or other issues. 19th C. Reverse Painted Silhouette of Gentleman

For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century folk art reverse painted silhouette that depicts a rather dapper looking gentleman that I found on a recent trip to Florida. The background is gold, and the piece is housed in a period, possibly the original frame with its original metal loop hanger. The framed silhouette measures about 5" square with sight measurements of 3 1/8" square. The image itself is about 1 1/2" x 1". The piece is in nice antique condition, with appropriate signs of age, but no significant issues, other that a bit of missing black paint in the upper right corner, barely noticeable, but mentioned for the sake of complete accuracy. It should also be noted that the frame has had a bit of restoration on the corners. For sale is a fabulous and rather unusual antique 19th century Pennsylvania primitive folk art slaw board or kraut cutter with a scalloped crest. It appears to be painted a very dark red almost brown, rather than being stained, and it has a single blade. It also appears to be constructed with hand cut nails, although there has been a repair or 2 over the years done with round head nails. In addition, there is a large hole for hanging, as well as what looks like a plug below the hole, possibly where there was a knot hole that had to be filled in. For sale is a wonderful antique sampler that I acquired from a sale in Pennsylvania, although I think that it might be English, as there is what looks like a crown at the bottom. I believe the sampler is done in silk thread on homespun linen. The piece is signed "Mary Gribbens's Sampler made in 1806", and there is a poem at the top that says "May I with innocence & peace, My fleeting moments spend, And when the tolls of life shall case (cease), With calmness meet my end." Elements of the design include birds, several types of flowers, trees, and what I think are sheep that are each inside a box at the bottom. It has a floral vine border, and is housed in a fairly modern black painted frame that makes a nice presentation. The framed sampler measures about 19 3/4" x 17 3/4" with sight measurements of 16 1/4" x 14 1/4". It is in very nice antique condition, with a tiny bit of leeching of the brown "F", and a tiny bit of damage along the top edge, barely noticeable, but mentioned for the sake of complete accuracy. For sale is a wonderful antique lady's dress that I believe is made of brown homespun that I acquired a few years ago in Ohio. It was made for a tall and thin woman, and has ruffled sleeves, a ruffle below the waist, and 3 rows of ruffles at the bottom. Approximate measurements are as follows: length - 61", waist - 27", bust - 35", neck opening - 6" across, sleeve length - 22", and sleeve opening - 4 1/2" across. The dress is in antique condition, with a few small holes and areas of repair, the most noticeable of which are on the elbow area of both sleeves. However, at least in my opinion, the dress is very worthy of display, and the imperfections are a testament to its age and use. For sale is a very nice antique late 19th to early 20th century handmade folk art 1/2 puzzle ball pin cushion. For sale is a very unusual antique hand carved folk art butter print in a religious design that most likely depicts a saint or other holy figure, with writing on either side, but I don't know what language it is. Antique Harlequin Design 2 Tier Sewing Stand

For sale is a fabulous antique handmade folk art 2 tier sewing stand that I acquired from a sale in New York state. It is completed in an inlaid harlequin design, has 10 acorn finials of various sizes, the smallest of which are probably for holding thimbles, as well as 2 pin cushions made of 3 different fabrics in brown, gray, and cream. It has porcelain knobs on the drawers, and the drawers are hand dovetailed. In addition, the top lifts off for storing sewing items, and the top is held in place with tiny little latches. There are additional applied decorative elements, and there is a scalloped skirt on 3 sides, with the back completed in a reverse scallop design. In addition, there are 3 holes in the front that are made of bone, I believe, and the middle one is enhanced with abalone or mother of pearl. The sewing stand measures about 9" tall, 11 1/4" long, and 8 3/4" wide, and is in nice, but antique condition, with surface wear and other signs of use, but no really significant flaws. Huge 10" PA. Folk Art Velvet Starfish Pin Cushion

For sale is a darling antique child's dress or gown that is made of white polka dotted fabric. It has a lace "V" and pleats at the top on both the front and back, as well as lace on the ends of the sleeves. It fastens with 4 buttons on the back, although 2 buttons are missing. The dress measures about 24 3/4" long, 13 1/2" wide from the arms, the neck opening is about 3 1/4" across, and the sleeves are about 7 1/2" long with 3 1/4" openings. Vintage PA. Strawberry Make-Do Pin Cushion

For sale is a wonderful vintage folk art strawberry make-do pin cushion that I acquired from a sale in Pennsylvania, and that I'm sure was made there as well. It has a large central strawberry with 6 smaller ones dangling from the sides, all completed in red wool fabric and green wool yarn. The piece is filled with a combination of cotton and rags, and sits on a blue pressed glass base that was most likely either an oil lamp or possibly a candlestick. In addition, where the pin cushion meets the base, there is a metal cylinder that has been painted green with cream polka dots. It measures about 11" tall, with a base that is 4 1/2" in diameter. The large strawberry alone is about 7" tall, and the small strawberries are about 2 1/2" long. The make-do is in nice vintage condition, with some moth holes and other signs of age, but it displays very well. For sale is a charming antique Victorian folk art framed woven hair memorial that I acquired from a sale in Connecticut last year. On the back, there is information indicating that a previous owner acquired it from Sandwich Antique Center in Sandwich, Massachusetts in 2015. It appears that 3 different colors of hair were used to form a sort of very stylized bow shape, and in the center, there is a flower with smaller flowers on each side. 19th C. Folk Art Heart Form Hair Love Token

For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century folk art heart form love token or memorial that is made out of woven hair. I acquired it from a sale in Connecticut last year. The hair appears to come from at least 2 different people, and has been woven into flower shapes. There is also a lock of hair in the center that is tied with a silk ribbon, and the entire composition is housed in a period dark red/brown painted frame. The framed piece measures about 9 1/2" x 7" with sight measurements of 6 3/4" x 4 1/2". The heart itself is about 5" x 3 1/2". The piece is in nice antique condition, with some dirt and toning on the paper, as well as age related wear on the frame. It should be noted that acid free backing was placed behind the composition, and a new backing and wire hanger were added. Antique 1820 Scituate, MA Sampler by Lydia Otis

For sale is a wonderful antique dated August 1820 sampler that was made by Lydia Otis, who the sampler states was born in Scituate, MA on February 5, 1809. According to information that came with the sampler, it came from the historic Otis Homestead. Several versions of the alphabet have been embroidered, as well as urns of flowers in the lower corners. There is also a religious verse that I can't make out very well, but a typed note that came with the sampler will be included that has most of the verse. I don't think that the frame is original. The framed sampler measures about 19 1/4" x 12 3/4" with sight measurements of 16 1/4" x 9 3/4". It is in nice antique condition, with overall toning and one area of minor damage. In addition, it should be noted that the sampler was removed from the frame for examination, and acid free backing was added before replacing the paper backing and wire hanger. Antq. Folk Portrait of Boy w/Riding Crop

For sale is a charming antique 19th century watercolor folk portrait of a young boy holding a riding crop. It is housed in what I believe is the original burl frame with the original metal loop hanger, and measures about 7 3/4" x 6" with sight measurements of 5 1/2" x 3 3/4". The image alone is about 4 1/2" x 2 1/4". The portrait is in very nice antique condition, with overall very light toning on the paper, but no significant flaws. It should be noted that it was removed from the frame for examination, and acid free backing was placed behind the image before replacing the paper backing. 19th C. British Silhouette of Child w/Provenance

For sale is a wonderful antique British silhouette of a boy holding a riding crop with provenance that I acquired recently. According to information on the back, as well as additional information provided by the seller, it depicts Arthur Campbell Bulkey Praed (1846-1901) of London. His father, John Praed (1799-1876), was an English first-class cricket player. The silhouette is cut paper with painted details, and is housed in an antique, possibly the original frame. The framed piece measures about 6 5/8" x 5", with sight measurements of 5 5/8" x 4". The image alone is about 5 3/4" x 2 1/2". The silhouette is in very nice antique condition, with very light overall toning, and minor wear on the frame, but no significant flaws. It should be noted that the piece was removed from the frame for examination, and acid free backing was placed inside before a new paper backing and wire hanger were added. Antq.1840-50 Shaker Huswif Sewing Rollup Ex Hatch

For sale is a wonderful antique ca. 1840-1850 Shaker huswif sewing rollup that was previously in the collection of well known dealer Pat Hatch, who specializes in Shaker items. It is completely hand sewn, is primarily made of wool, has a center pocket for storing sewing implements, and 4 layers for needle and pin storage. I think the backing is polished cotton, although I don't know for sure. The piece folds up nicely into an envelope shape, and measures about 7 3/4" long when open, 3 1/2" wide, and 3" long when folded. It is in very nice antique condition, with no issues on the interior, and just a few areas of minor wear on the back. 20" Antique German Mooing Cow Pull Toy Still Works

For sale is a fabulous antique German mooing cow pull toy that I have had for several years. I purchased it from a dealer friend in Provo, Utah. It is made of animal hide, has what I think are composition horns, glass eyes, and has a painted fabric collar with a metal buckle around its neck. It sits on a red stained wooden platform that retains its original wheels. The toy measures about 20" long 12" tall, and 5 1/2" wide, and is in very nice antique condition, with expected signs of age, and it still moos! 19th C. Double Sided Mill & Checkers Gameboard

For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century primitive folk art double sided gameboard that I acquired from a sale in Connecticut. One side depicts a mill game in mustard yellow with a very dark red and black faux painted background. The checkers side is done in red, mustard, and black with black stenciling on the ends. In addition, the ends of the board are round with finials on the corners. The piece measures about 25 1/2" long, 15" wide, and 1" side to side from the finials, and is in very nice antique condition, with great signs of age including wonderful paint craquelure. It should be noted that one of the finials is a new replacement, but you'd be pretty hard pressed to determine which one. Antq. 1807 Brechall Watercolor Birth Certificate

For sale is a wonderful antique 1807 folk art watercolor fraktur birth certificate made for Esther Schock that I acquired from a sale in Pennsylvania, and that was previously in the collection of Francis and Marybeth Mastropaolo, who were from Macungie, Pennsylvania. The piece was done by Martin Brechall, who was active from 1783 to 1830. In the center, there is German writing about the birth, and on each side, there is a heart with more German writing. In addition, there are radials in the corners, as well as flowers all the way around. The piece is housed in a fairly modern frame, although it suits it well, and measures about 17 3/4" x 14 3/4" with sight measurements of 16" x 13". It is in nice antique condition, with a few creases and/or tears, but it displays very well. It should be noted that the paper backing does have a couple of tears that have been taped together. Antique Painted Cutlery Box w/Abstract Design

For sale is a very nice antique primitive folk art cutlery box in its original oxblood red, almost brown paint with abstract designs on all four sides completed in white. There is also white stringing on the handle, and the bottom is unpainted. The piece has canted sides and square nail construction. It is polychrome painted on a rather thin poplar board, and there are radial designs on each of the ends of the design. Antq.19th C. Painted Mortar & Pestle w/Moon Design

For sale is a really unique antique 19th century primitive folk art mortar and pestle with the painted design of what I believe is supposed to be the moon, or possibly the setting sun. I acquired it from a sale in Virginia, but I don't know for sure where it was made. The moon/sun is painted white, which is surrounded by a wonderful sky blue, and brown below. The interior of the mortar as well as the end of the pestle are painted pink, and all of the paint appears to be original. In addition, there are nice scribed lines on the handle of the pestle. The mortar measures about 8 1/4" tall, and 4 3/4" in diameter, and the pestle is about 7 1/2" long. Antq. PA Folk Art Painted Apple Box w/Deer & Horse

For sale is a fabulous antique Pennsylvania folk art apple box centerpiece with naively painted images of a running horse on one side, and a deer on the opposite. The background color is a dark robin's egg blue, and according to the seller, the paint is milk based. The box has canted sides, and is constructed with handmade nails. In addition, there is the name "Johannes Spitler" written on one handle, and the year 1787 on the other. Based on my research, I am unsure if this is a work by Spitler, as it seems much more naive than other works I have seen. That said, it is an old piece, most likely 19th century. Antique 8 Point Star Quilt in Early Fabrics

For sale is a terrific antique 8 point star quilt that I found in Washington state. It is machine pieced and hand quilted in a diamond grid pattern using wonderful early red and brown print fabrics. The backing is a solid light brown fabric, the quilt is bound using a double pink calico, and it is very thinly filled with cotton. The piece measures about 85" x 74", and is in nice antique condition, with areas of visible pencil lines, one small spot on the front, and uneven minor fading and a few spots on the back, but no holes, rips, or repairs. Antq. Folk Art Book Form Scherenschnitte Valentine

For sale is an exquisite antique Victorian folk art valentine that has been in my collection for awhile. I think that it is Italian based on my research into the writing on it. It is a heart shaped book that when opened, reveals wonderful 3-dimensional scherenscnitte, with watercolor flowers and Italian writing. The exterior is silk with beadwork, and the floral side has Italian writing, while the cross side has Latin writing. The book is trimmed with lace, and there is silk ribbon at the top and bottom. The valentine measures about 3 1/4" tall not including the ribbon, and 3 1/2" wide, and is in wonderful antique condition, with signs of age, but no significant issues. Ca. 1880 W. PA. Folk Art Wall Box w/Heart & Stars

For sale is a wonderful antique ca. 1880 Western Pennsylvania folk art wall box that I acquired from a dealer friend recently. The box portion is in the form of a heart that almost looks like it has a face on it, and there are applied stars mounted on circles on the top corners, as well as other circular designs in the middle and at the bottom. In addition, a few areas of have been painted or stained green, and there is an eye screw on the back for hanging. It is constructed using old hand cut nails, as well as wooden pegs, and there is one screw on the back. The piece measures about 13" tall, 8" wide, and 3" deep, and is in nice antique condition, with a dark aged patina, and other signs of age and use including one star with a bit of the point missing, which looks like has been that way for a long time. 19th C. Folk Art Box w/Birds, Swag, Original Key

For sale is a fabulous antique 19th century folk art painted dome top box with birds flanking an urn with what I think is a fruit tree on the lid, and a swag design on the front that I acquired from a collection in Pennsylvania. There is a note inside indicating that it was purchased at the Jim Burke November 1989 York, PA., show, and that it is similar to Bucher boxes, however, according to the seller, it is thought to be French. I don't know for sure, but I would certainly lean towards a European origin. There is additional painted decoration on the sides, and the back and bottom are painted blue. There is a small wire handle on the top, wire hinges, and the original key and locking mechanism are still in place. (The key hangs on a piece of wire on the interior, and I didn't attempt to remove it.) In addition, it is lined with paper. The box measures about 15 5/8" long, 9 3/4" wide, and 9" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with expected paint wear, and a tight stable crack on the bottom, but it displays very well. Antique 1838 PA. Charles Young 4-Color Coverlet

For sale is an antique dated 1838 4-color coverlet that was made by Charles Young from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. It has a center seam, alternating rows of roses and what look like sunflowers, on 2 sides there are potted sunflowers, and on the bottom edge there are birds. The top edge is narrowly hemmed. The coverlet measures about 92" x 84", and is in nice antique condition, with minor age-related wear, including one small area where the middle seam needs to be resewn, but no significant flaws. Antique PA Lancaster Co.Peter Leisey Coverlet

For sale is a terrific antique 3-color coverlet that was made by Peter Leisey of Lancaster County, PA, most likely in the 1840's. According to my research, at least one of his pieces is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This one has a center seam, alternating rows of roses and what look to me like sunflowers, a sort of leaf and vine border on 2 sides, and a simple diamond border on the other 2 sides. There is fringe on 3 sides, and the top is narrowly hemmed. The coverlet measures about 89" x 72", and is in nice antique condition, with some minor age-related wear, but no holes, rips, noticeable stains, or repairs. For sale is a terrific antique ca. 1900 folk art crib quilt in an unusual oak leaves and berries pattern. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted, and is filled with raw cotton batting, as you can see cotton seeds when the piece is held up to the light. The woman appears to be wearing a lace bonnet, and although it is hard to see in the pictures, details of her clothing have been painted on in a shiny black over the flat black of the image. On the back, there is a label with what looks like an inventory number, which is also written on the wood. For sale is a very sweet antique 19th century Pennsylvania primitive drawstring seed bag that is completely hand sewn using a terrific brown, red, and cream striped fabric. I believe the blue drawstring is an old shoestring, although I'm not positive. For sale is a very rare antique handmade primitive folk art rye basket suitcase. I purchased it from a well known Maryland dealer, and I've never seen anything even similar to it before. It has a leather buckle closure, and also wire loops that connect to keep the piece closed as well. The piece measures about 24" long 14" wide, and4 1/2" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with some areas of expected wear and grime from use, but no holes, etc. It should be noted that the leather buckle closure does have damage, and isn't functional, but the pieces closes just fine.
