Chalkware Statue of George Washington on Horse

Price: 45

Probably made about 1932, at the time of the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth in 1732, this solid chalkware statue shows George, with his sword drawn to the side, sitting astride his prancing horse. It has been painted (all-over) chocolate brown, and George is looking off in the distance. The little statue is about is 10 ¾” high and the oval base measures 7 ¾” x 2 ½”. I am presuming that it was meant to sit on a mantel or bookshelf. Considering how potentially fragile it is, the statue is in good condition. George’s head has been off but very carefully, and neatly, reattached (I know: “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, How was the play?”), there is some light paint rubbing, mostly on Geoerge’s nose and chin, on his right foot/boot and on the edge of the base just below it and on the horse’s left knee and a tiny hole on the side of his right foot (may have been made “in the making”).. The statue alone weighs about 1 pound 8 ounces.
