Primitive turned and carved wooden box. Turned, but as wood shrinks over time with the grain, over time it becomes out of round. Almost oval. So lid only fits one way. While the box is very old and may be from the 1840's, I think the date was added somewhat later. Probably had a family story and someone wanted to remember that date. The price includes insured shipping and handling in the continental US.
