Two exceptional Gum boxes with chip carved decoration and original paint and/or varnish. Both have their original tops that slide open and the one on the right has an old repaired crack in top. More photos available but both in very nice condition. These were small wooden pocket sized boxes carved in the shape of a book from Maine or CAN in the mid 19thc. or early 20thc. by lumberjacks to hold spruce gum.
