For sale is an exquisite antique Victorian folk art valentine that has been in my collection for awhile. I have come to find out that the writing is Latin, and that the piece is most likely American. It is a heart shaped book that when opened, reveals wonderful 3-dimensional scherenscnitte, with watercolor flowers and Italian writing. The exterior is silk with beadwork, and the floral side has Italian writing, while the cross side has Latin writing. The book is trimmed with lace, and there is silk ribbon at the top and bottom. The valentine measures about 3 1/4" tall not including the ribbon, and 3 1/2" wide, and is in wonderful antique condition, with signs of age, but no significant issues.
