For sale is a wonderful antique Pennsylvania Lancaster County folk art bird fraktur bookplate. I acquired it from a dealer of folk art in Robesonia, Pennsylvania. It is dated "January the 9,1837" and signed "Wm. Schools His Book". The bird is yellow with orange wings and a blue ring around its neck. The piece is housed in a wonderful and appropriate painted frame, although it is fairly recent, and there is information on the back indicating who framed it. The framed piece measures about 9 3/4" x 7 7/8" with sight measurements of 6 1/4" x 4 3/8". The bookplate itself is about 5" x 3 1/2", and is in nice but antique condition, with overall toning and a few water spots and other minor imperfections, but it displays very well. In addition, the information on the back indicates that it has been framed with museum quality glass that has 99% UV protection. There is also what appears to be some kind of hand written inventory number on the top right. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.
