Early Wood & Iron Hatchel. Blacksmith made tines through wooden board. Hatchels were used to process wool and flax to prepare yarn for weaving. Flax was dragged across the tines to break down the fibers in order to spin it into yarn used to make linen. In very old worn condition. One side of board is worn off.,.shown.
