For sale is a very unique, and I believe rare, antique Scandinavian folk art tine box in the form of a fish. I acquired it a few years ago in Nebraska, and have enjoyed it ever since. It is painted a wonderful dark teal blue, and has carved fans and waves on the entire piece. In addition, there is a tag on the inside that says "Blue Box, Dorothy Hammond, 593SBX", the last part I assume being an inventory number. It is my understanding that Dorothy was an avid and fairly well known collector of Scandinavian folk art, and that this piece was sold at an estate auction some time ago. The box measures about 10 1/2" long including the fish's tail, 4 1/2" wide, and 4 1/2" tall including the locking mechanisms, and is in very nice antique condition, with some expected paint wear from age and use, but no significant flaws, and the locking/closing mechanism works well.
