For sale is terrific antique 19th century folk art pocketbook or wallet that is signed J.M. Faires. I acquired it from a sale in Pennsylvania, and it is completed in wool needlework sort of similar to flame stitched items from the 19th century. It has a green ribbon or possibly shoestring closure, and the interior has 4 pockets made of brown fabric, possibly silk, although I don't know for sure. The piece measures about 11 1/2" long when open and 4 1/2" wide, and is in nice but antique condition, with some areas of missing stitches mainly on the blue yarn, but it displays well.
