19th C. Painting of Swallows on Papier Mache Plate

For sale is a very sweet antique late 19th century folk art oil painting of 5 swallows, 4 appearing to be on the ground near water, and on flying above. I acquired the painting in Nebraska, and it is completed on a papier mache plate. The person I purchased it from stated that it was dated 1884, and I believe it is on the back, but it is very hard to see. There are also words on the back, but the only one that I can really read is "leather", the significance of which I don't know. There is the name "Kittie" written in pencil as well. The piece measures about 14 1/8" in diameter, and is in nice antique condition, with a bit of minor wea in and around the edges, as well as some minor yellowing on the varnish, but no really major issues. There is an area on the back where there must have been a hanger glued on, but apparently it came off, and was covered with duct tape.
