Ca. 1900 Heart in Hand Pen Wipe Ex McClard Segotta
Price: 895
Sold by Albion Valley Folk Art and Antiques
For sale is an outstanding antique late 19th to early 20th century folk art heart in hand love token pen wipe that was formerly in the collection of well known dealers Peggy McClard and Randy Segotta, and that I believe has also been published, although I can't remember what publication/book it was in. The piece was most likely made in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and is made of kid leather with a wonderful woven heart trimmed with triangular "scallops" with 2 red silk ribbons above. There are also woven details at the wrist, and more triangular scalloping at the bottom. It is rather 3 dimensional, and it feels like there is sand or possibly sawdust inside. The pen wipe is large, and measures about 6 1/4" long and 3 1/2" wide at the bottom. It is in wonderful antique condition, with signs of age and use including surface dirt, and ink stains on the inner layers at the bottom. This is your chance to own a top notch piece from a fabulous folk art collection. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.
