Ca. 1900 New England Folk Art Rag Doll "Abigail"

Price: 450

Sold by Albion Valley Folk Art and Antiques

For sale is a charming antique ca. 1890-1910 New England folk art rag doll that has a tag pinned on her slip that says "My name is Abigail. A good New England name". This sweet doll has hand drawn sepia ink facial features and hair, stubby fingerless hands, and is wearing period, possibly her original clothing, which includes a calico dress, lace trimmed petticoat and bloomers, all of which appear to be hand sewn, as well as naively sewn cloth shoes. She is firmly stuffed, and measures about 15 1/2" tall, 5 1/4" wide hand to hand, and 2 1/2"-3" front to back. The doll is in nice antique condition, with toning, minor surface dirt and stains, wear on her shoes, a seam separation on the end of one sleeve, but no significant issues. Her dress is pinned on with a safety pin, and there is no evidence of buttons or button holes. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.
