Forged iron kettle lamp having a rarely found sliding cover that closes over the filling hole. It has an open handle with curl that also serves as a hook for hanging on a ladder back chair. It still has its original wick pick and chain. The lamp is 10” tall x 6” dia. base. Very nice white smith file work on stem. No issues, c.1770-1800. PA origin.
