For sale is an antique primitive folk art carved and painted bird that may be a shorebird, although I'm not positive. It is painted primarily a very pale blue, almost gray, and has a partially black tail, and an orange/red beak. I can't tell for sure if it ever had painted eyes, and there are naively carved wings. The legs are wood, and the bird sits atop a tall wood slice that I have discovered has very naive incised carvings on it, the most recognizable of which is a bird. There appear to be bird tracks in some areas, although it should be noted that there are many areas that look like worm holes or some kind of insect damage. The piece measures about 9 1/4" tall, the bird is about 6" long, 4" tall including the legs, and 1 1/2" wide, and the base is about 3 1/2" in diameter. It is in worn primitive condition with lots of craquelure and missing paint. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.
