Rare PA cast and wrought iron pot lid with bird and posnet. The lid cover has a bird finial peened through the center. The lid was hammered to a low- domed, circular shape of appropriate diameter to fit into the neck or over the lip of a pottery jar to store food in kitchens, larders, pantries, cupboards, cellars, and root cellars. The lid is 2 3/4” tall x 5 1/2” diameter. The cast iron posnet has a straight line gate and is 5 3/16” in diameter x 3 3/4” tall and 10” across the handle.
