Early hand-forged American wrought-iron loom light, dating to the late 18th or possibly very early 19th century. This unusual weaver's light is hand-forged with a long twisted iron stem, shepherd's-hook hanging end, and a tapered candle socket formed from hand-worked iron. The socket retains its original overlapped seam, with visible irregular hammer marks and the natural surface characteristic of early forged iron. The piece measures approximately 10¾ inches in length, with a ¾-inch candle socket opening. A wonderful example of early American utilitarian ironwork, made for positioning candlelight near a weaving loom. The irregularity of the forging, twisted stem, hand-formed hook, and folded socket construction all contribute to its early character. Condition: Good antique condition with an untouched, naturally aged surface. Please see photographs for details of the original forging, surface oxidation, and minor imperfections consistent with age and use. An especially appealing piece for collectors of early American wrought iron, textile and weaving history, primitive lighting, and early Americana. Dimensions: 10¾" long; approximately ¾" socket opening. Date: Late 18th–earl
